In St. Brigid’s we place a strong emphasis on promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle. Throughout the year the children of St. Brigid’s participate in GAA, soccer, handball and skipping workshops. During the first term the children from 3rd class upwards attend swimming lessons for 7 weeks. The school continually promotes a healthy eating policy. At the end of the school year children and staff thoroughly enjoy the annual Sports Day.

St Brigid’s places a strong emphasis on ICT and strives to develop all children’s ICT skills and prepare them for the Digital Age World. Each classroom and resource room is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and computer. ICT is embedded in pupils’ daily lessons. At present the school is working hard to secure funding to purchase a class set of iPads to enhance their learning.

Art, Drama and Music are an integral part of St Brigid’s. Children are encouraged to play musical instruments and partake in tin whistle lessons weekly. Throughout the year children participate in drama productions and musical concerts for parents and the community. At Christmas the children perform a nativity play for the community in our local church. St Brigid’s encourages all children to develop their artistic skills. Children’s work is proudly on display around the school and they participate in art competitions such as the Credit Union, Community Games and Meath County Council Litter Competition.

In order to nurture children’s love of reading and to help improve literacy levels, the staff and parents are currently in the process of setting up a new state of the art school library.
